At the University Children’s Hospital Zurich, medical staff produce around 70,000 reports each year for referring physicians. Distribution is handled by the central medical secretariat, with each case requiring its own delivery method, either by email or by post. The effort involved amounted to around 300 working days per year.
A specialized software robot handles the entire distribution process automatically. Based on a predefined set of rules, it assigns the appropriate recipients, applies additional triage rules, routes the reports accordingly, and marks the delivery as completed. If an error occurs, the report is returned to the sender for review.
